Egg Donors
As an anonymous egg donor, a young woman has the ability to give a priceless gift to a couple who wants to enhance their lives with a child. Couples who seek pregnancy through the use of donated eggs have possibly been trying for years without success despite all medical advances. In other cases, a woman may need donated eggs because her own ovaries have been removed. Some couples need eggs from a donor because they do not want to pass along a genetic disease to their children. At Red Rock Fertilty Center, we are truly committed to making the egg donation process as rewarding and enjoyable an experience as possible. Our fellowship trained physician and egg donor coordinators will be available to assist through the entire egg donation process.

The Egg Donation Procedure
A minor in office surgical procedure is required to remove the eggs. The eggs are removed by inserting a needle into the ovary through the vaginal wall with the assistance of transvaginal ultrasound. You are given deep sedation by an anesthesiologist during this procedure. Theoretical risks include infection, damaging other organs and blood vessels that are around the ovaries, and anesthetic adverse reactions. These complications are extremely rare.
Our facility is certified by a national certifying body, The American Association for Accredidation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities and the State of Nevada.
The main risk of egg donation is "Ovarian
Hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS)" This is caused by the medications that are used to
stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs in one cycle. If a donor
is over stimulated, she can develop, in its most severe form, this
potentially life threatening condition in which her ovaries are
significantly enlarged with cysts, fluid accumulates in the abdomen and
lungs, dehydration occurs due loss of blood volume. The condition
corrects itself over the course of a week to 10 days. The overall nationwide
incidence of this complication in IVF programs is 2%.
